Charities Supported by the 2017 Festival
Kate’s Home Nursing
Set up to nurse patients in their own home through the last stage of illness and to support their families. During the last financial year they accepted over 90 patient referrals and provided over 850 individual nursing episodes, at a cost of approximately £290,000. Whilst they receive some support from official sources, they still have to raise about 75% of funds themselves.
Great Western Air Ambulance
Founded in 2008, GWAA is a charity-funded air ambulance service ready to save the lives of people in our community. They provide lifesaving emergency care to people who cannot be reached by road or who are in a state so critical that they require the specialist skills of the air ambulance crew at the scene of the accident.
Stow Primary School
Our local primary school is hoping to completely upgrade their playground this year.
Sam Pilcher Trust
The Trust is, as usual, manning the car park. Sam lived in Upper Slaughter and attended Swell Primary School. He was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2008 and bravely battled this dreadful disease until 2010 when he died aged 11. The Trust now provide ongoing support to children suffering from leukaemia and their families.
